Welcome to your first lesson in the CAPSLOCK pre-course! In this lesson, we are going to join Carrie Anne-Philbin and the Cyber Security introductory video.
We’re then going to tackle a theory-based cyber lab on Immersive Labs. Pay attention to the video and lab content, as there will be multiple-choice questions quizzes throughout your pre-course journey.
Cybersecurity is a set of techniques to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) of computer systems and data against threats. In today’s episode, we’re going to unpack these three goals and talk through some strategies we use like passwords, biometrics, and access privileges to keep our information as secure, but also as accessible as possible. From massive Denial of Service, or DDos attacks, to malware and brute force password cracking there are a lot of ways for hackers to gain access to your data, so we’ll also discuss some strategies like creating strong passwords, and using 2-factor authentication, to keep your information safe.
Following the video lesson, we’re going to tackle the ‘What is Cyber Security? lab on Immersive Labs. Use the link below to access the lab. You will need to be logged into Immersive Labs for the link to work.
